Johor MIC deputy chairman Krishnasamy Sithan shot dead

Tenggaroh state assemblyman and Johor MIC deputy chairman Datuk Krishnasamy Sithan was murdered gangland-style yesterday at the Johor MIC headquarters here. Krishnasamy, 64, was shot once in the neck at point blank range by an unknown gunman just as he entered the elevator on the ground floor of the building at about 2pm.

He had been dropped off by his driver and was on his way up to the second floor for a meeting.

No one saw the assassin but rumours circulated around the crime scene that a young man in his 20s was seen leaving the building in a hurry at around the time of the incident.

Johor deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said a task force had been formed comprising senior investigators.

"What is important is that we leave this matter to the police and I urge others not to speculate on the motive.

"Let us do our jobs and if anyone has any information that will help us, please call."

Krishnasamy's body was brought to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital where a post mortem was carried out.

His body was later transported to his home in Segamat.
